AlunaGeorge at Cambridge Junction, Friday 25th October

Harriet Wade

Last night in Cambridge AlunaGeorge played to a crowded sweaty bathhouse, otherwise known as the Junction. It was a stunning, albeit somewhat brief, performance.

The lacklustre support acts Kyan and Ella Eyre failed to dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm for the headline act, who came on to a storm of applause. The electronic duo hails from London, and has seen a steady rise in popularity since last year. They are yet to release their debut album, but their already solid fanbase indicates that it will be highly successful when it is released in July this year.

As a result of this dearth of discography, the set was surprisingly brief. Packing a mean punch with favourites such as “You Know You Like It,” “The Drums, Your Love” and “Attracting Flies” the set was nonetheless entertaining. Disclosure’s “White Noise” which they feature on was slightly disappointing, but was made up for an excellent cover of Montell Jordan’s “This is How We Do It.” Overall, a fast-paced and enjoyable performance which bodes well for the future, when the duo have more material.
