Show 18: Dance It Out
07 Mar 2017 17:38 | By: Rachel Davidson
This week, I gave us all permission to de-stress for an hour, through dance! Nothing like moving your body to make you feel better after sitting at the computer all day (as I am more than guilty of doing).
I'm pretty sure I forgot to tell everyone about my college dancing days as I promised I would in the last half-hour, so I'll write it here. I went to salsa and blues social dancing sessions on Friday and Saturday evenings for most of my undergraduate career. I got to be a pretty regular member of the scene, but didn't reach the levels of the ballroom dance team, which competed on the national level in the United States. You knew the dance club by their monogrammed hoodies – but I jest, it's hard to make fun of people who are so talented and on point in their dances! Aside from all that, I also went to the odd dance party held by the radio station (KSPC 88.7fm), and pulled some inspiration for today's show from that experience.
Anyway, the full playlist is here :)

Happy Valentine's Day! Celebrate love with this playlist I themed according to the various stages of love: meeting someone, infatuation, making a move, maybe getting a little heartbroken but ultimately coming out on the other side stronger for it. You can view the whole playlist here <3

With the help of several friends, I pulled together a show celebrating Chinese New Year and popular music. Times like this I wish I had learned Chinese growing up, but the lack of linguistic skill doesn't mean I can't enjoy the music! Check out the full list here!
Show 14: Japanese Pop Culture

This week, I shared music knowledge gained from my two years living in Japan. We heard songs that have become veritable memes, and modern East/West collaborations as well. See the whole playlist with a link to the online player here.

This week, I indulged my inner geek and played you a bunch of my favorite tracks from my favorite video games! From Super Mario 64 to Persona 3 and 4, there was a really fun range. Whether you're familiar with the games or not, I hope you find these tracks fun (and sometimes beautiful) enough to enjoy this show. The whole playlist is here.

If the trending hashtag is #newyearnewme, what about #newyearnewmusic? That was the question I intended to answer with this week's roster of music, new tunes released in the last month. Includes soon-to-be-hits from Jens Lekman, Bonobo, and Dirty Projectors, plus lots of hidden gems on Soundcloud! Check out the whole list, along with links to tracks by the lesser-known artists, here.

Alternative title, 'Pound it out to drop those winter Pounds’" :) I rounded up all my danciest, high-energy music to motivate you to achieve all your 2017 goals, exercise-related or not! The full playlist is here.
